Memorandum of Understanding Signed between India Meteorological Department and Central Water Commission A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Central Water Commission (CWC) was signed today, the 14th August 2025, by the Chairman, CWC, and the Director General of Meteorology, IMD, and officers from both organizations. This MoU aims at further streamlining the data exchange, enabling enhanced scientific and technical research in both institutions. The collaboration is a significant step forward in strengthening early warning for disaster mitigation and risk management, particularly in addressing challenges posed by the riverine floods and flash floods.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has undertaken significant efforts to support and promote the indigenous Ground-Based Microwave Radiometer developed by SAMEER. One such radiometer has been successfully installed at the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati, as part of these efforts.
