In the backdrop of celebration of IMD's extraordinary milestone of 150 years of its establishment, a popular talk series is being organized by IMD. In this series of talk, Prof. Swadhin Behera, a leading scientist in global ocean and climate research delivered a popular talk on “Progresses in Climate Predictions and Applications: Evolution of the Digital Twin Technology” in hybrid mode at IMD New Delhi on 22 August 2024, Thursday at 1500 IST.

On the backdrop of Global Energy and Water Exchanges (GEWEX) Open Science Congress 2024 being held at Sapporo Japan a special session on Monsoon was organized in the conference to celebrate 150 years of IMD on 10th July 2024. Dr. M. Mohapatra, DG IMD chaired the special session and delivered a talk on Evolution of Monsoon Research and Forecasting in India during past 150 Years.

A Review Meeting for India Meteorological Department activities was held today at Prithvi Bhawan, chaired by Hon’ble HMoES Dr Jitendra Singh with Dr M Ravichandran, Secy, MoES, DGM, IMD, Dr M Mohapatra briefed about advancements in 🇮🇳’s weather & climate services. Hon’ble HMoES Dr Jitendra Singh ji emphasised the need to continuously enhance the weather & climate services esp. forecasts and establishing world class state-of-art infrastructure for India 🇮🇳.

On June 15, 2024, Dr Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble MoS (I/C) for Earth Sciences, chaired a pivotal meeting, focusing on strategic plans spanning 100 days, 5 years & goals up to 2047.
